About New Directions

New Directions enables NRTF touring schemes, venues and voluntary promoters to sample shows, see work, share experiences with other promoters and broaden their knowledge of work available for the rural touring network. The event brings together those involved in managing rural touring networks that, together, organize some 3,143 shows delivered to 222,039 audience members each year.

New Directions 2016

Falmouth University's Academy of Music and Theatre Arts.

This year's New Directions Showcase will present extracts of bold and exciting work from a diverse range of artists that reflect the breadth and diversity of work presented by the rural touring network.

NRTF Showcase 2014

The aims of the event in 2014 were:

-to introduce delegates to exciting high quality work, known and unknown artists and artists whose work is moving in an exciting new direction.

-to introduce a range of artists and companies to the rural touring network.


-to include a special morning featuring dance for rural touring

 

As well as showcasing work in a variety of spaces within York Theatre Royal, Alex Wright programmed a #MiniFest in The Fauconberg Arms in Coxwold, North Yorkshire. Part of the “Little Festival of Everything” initiative, this provided a night full of the best and most surprising work you could find in a cosy country pub.
