In April 2018, China Plate became one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations. We have now begun a four-year funding partnership to deliver an ambitious business plan with a diverse programme of artist and artform development, which will see new work with new partners and our first step into developing mid-scale work.

Alongside this, we have also been awarded a four-year grant from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to support our core programme, including a new post of Engagement and Participation Producer. The Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-makers in the UK that aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities by funding the charitable work of organisations that are building an inclusive, creative and sustainable society. In 2017, it made grants of £40.5 million towards a wide range of work within the arts, children and young people, the environment and social change.
