We are delighted to welcome Orla to the China Plate team.

Over the next couple of weeks, as part of a B-Experienced Internship from the University of Birmingham, Orla will be working as a Producing Assistant alongside the team on Wuthering Heights as we begin rehearsals for its world premiere tour this Spring!

Can you introduce yourself?

Hi I’m Orla! I am about to graduate from studying Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham.

If you were to describe your character in three words, what would they be?

Smiley, Caring, Creative

What are you hoping to do when you’ve graduated from university?

I am particularly interested in Producing Community Outreach Theatre and Drama Facilitation, as well as being backstage with the Stage Management team!

What are your hobbies outside of university?

I like long distance running as part of ‘Vegan Runners UK’, I also like to dance, paint, cycle and bake bread.

What excites you about working with China Plate and on Wuthering Heights?

I’m really excited about the opportunity to develop skills as a producer and to gain more confidence in this industry! I’d like to gain more knowledge into the process of putting a show together and skills in administration – creating useful documentation to support the practicalities of the show. I am also really passionate about China Plate’s approach to theatre in communities and with a ‘social purpose’.

Coming to Northampton, Oxford, Coventry, London, and Newcastle, Wuthering Heights will have its world premiere at Royal & Derngate, Northampton from 24 April – 6 May 2023, before touring to Oxford Playhouse from 9-13 May, Warwick Arts Centre from 16-18 May, Rose Theatre, Kingston from 23-27 May; concluding at Northern Stage from 6-10 June.
