We are delighted to welcome Maya to the China Plate team.
Over the next couple of weeks, as part of a B-Experienced Internship from the University of Birmingham, Maya will be working alongside the team on Please Do Not Touch, ahead of its world premiere and run at the Belgrade Theatre in September.
Can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Maya. I’m a first-year English Language and Linguistics student at the University of Birmingham.
If you were to describe your character in three words, what would they be?
Enthusiastic, curious, optimistic.
What are you hoping to do when you graduate from university?
I would love to work in a creative industry of some kind, where I can learn every day and read as much as possible!
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love to read, particularly mystery and fantasy. I also enjoy going to the cinema – anything from Disney movies to biopics.
What excites you about working with China Plate and on Please Do Not Touch?
I’m excited to work on a production that centres around important issues like activism, colonialism and racism. I can’t wait to get stuck in and see how the show comes together behind the scenes, and work on lots of different areas of production.
Please Do Not Touch is playing at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry from 11th – 21st September, followed by exclusive performances at two National Trust properties – Attingham Park in Shropshire on Tuesday 24 September and Upton House & Gardens in Warwickshire on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September.
