We are delighted to welcome Ikram to the China Plate team.

Over the next couple of weeks, as part of a B-Experienced Internship from the University of Birmingham, Ikram will be working alongside the team on our multi-year co-creation project Neighbourhood Creatives.

Can you introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Ikram! I’ve recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in English and Film.

If you were to describe your character in three words, what would they be?

Generous, inquisitive, and creative.

What are you hoping to do when you graduate from university?

My main goal when I graduated was just to enjoy my summer (which I did)! Now, my aim is to become more familiar with my creative community, experience many different forms of art, and document and write about it!

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy exploring the city, trying new food locations, and spending quality time with my friends who make those moments special. I also enjoy my free time by gaming or reading when I’m at home. I’m a big fan of Batman and recently read the Arkham Asylum comic as well as started playing the Arkham Asylum game!

What excites you about working with China Plate?

I’m ecstatic to be working on the Neighbourhood Creatives project. It is designed to keep arts and culture thriving, as well as provide fun activities and experiences to everyone in the Washwood Heath and Ward End communities!

SAVE THE DATE: From 26th – 31st October 2026, we’ll be hosting the Neighbourhood Creatives Arts Festival in Washwood Heath and Ward End in Birmingham – filled with family fun activities and performances at different venues across the area – all events will be free!

Everyone is welcome – whether you live locally or a little further afield. If you fancy being the first to hear when the full festival schedule has launched and would like to be updated on future arts opportunities in the area, as part of the Neighbourhood Creatives project, please click here to fill in a short form with your contact details.
