We’re delighted to be touring Talking About The Fire, created by Chris Thorpe and Claire O’Reilly, both nationally and internationally over the next few months.
It’s a show and a conversation about a new nuclear weapons treaty – one that’s trying to give the power to eliminate nuclear weapons to the states, and people, who don’t possess them. It has made us think about what our next steps should be around the issue of nuclear disarmament and different ways we can make a positive impact on the world in general. To address this, we’ve produced a suite of digital resources to help encourage those next steps.
Perhaps you…

Are interested in how telling stories/making theatre can support spreading awareness?
Watch our Meet the Experts video, which captures a panel discussion where experts in the field of nuclear weapons discuss how arts and culture can help to spread the word about the urgent need for disarmament, the journey of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and what an individual can do to help. Please note that this discussion was organised alongside the 2024 tour of A Family Business – the sister show which inspired the creation of Talking About The Fire – and makes references to that show throughout.
Would like to know more about the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Nihon Hidankyo and their work towards nuclear disarmament?
Nihon Hidankyo is a Japanese organisation comprised of survivors of the atomic bomb blasts over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, who were awarded the prize for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.
Every December, with the awarding of The Nobel Peace Prize as a backdrop, the Oslo Peace Days in Norway gather people to discuss and learn about topics related to peace, freedom, democracy and human rights. Last year, Chris Thorpe was co-hosted by Nobel Peace Center and Norwegian People’s Aid to perform Talking About The Fire to celebrate Nihon Hidankyo winning.
The Nobel Prize have developed a digital lesson on the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, in collaboration with the Nobel Peace Center, which you can access for free. The lesson is designed to take 45 minutes and includes a slideshow with a speaker’s manuscript, a video and a student assignment.
Watch the introduction video below.
The lesson resources can be downloaded from The Nobel Prize website.
Talking About The Fire tours between 31st March – 22nd May 2025.
