A unique opportunity for Healthcare Workers from across the country, different roles and departments to come together in a virtual creative space to connect and share their experiences of working through the pandemic
Healthcare workers can be working in a public (e.g. NHS) or private setting, can be qualified or not yet qualified (e.g. student), in a patient-facing role or not. All healthcare workers are welcome!
Through a series of creative activities you will have the opportunity to share your experiences and thoughts and inform 4 unique pieces of sound art devised by award-winning artists and recorded by actors both to give voice to these experiences and document a monumental period of human history.
The Humans Not Heroes project follows-on from a successful pilot project, Boats on an Ocean, run in 2020 as part of Coventry Creates. In 2021 we want to keep these important conversations going and will engage with even more healthcare workers to create four new audio artworks collaboratively with award-winning artists Caroline Horton and Rochi Rampal and a Sound Designer.
As healthcare workers across the globe continue to work through this unprecedented crisis, your voices need to be heard now more than ever.
Each cohort of 10 will be invited to take part in two online workshops with an artist and arts facilitator.
Workshop 1: Facilitated in a supportive environment, participants will be invited to engage in creative activities designed to inspire conversation and encourage the group to share and reflect on their experiences within the framework of a character or persona. There will be no pressure to share and we only ask you to share what you’re comfortable with.
Workshop 2: The artist will share the co-created script developed from Workshop 1 material and participants will be invited to offer their thoughts on how the script can be co-refined into an audio artwork. During the workshop, they will investigate tone, character and setting.
This script will be recorded as an audio piece by a Sound Designer & Actor and shared with participants in a group sharing. Throughout you will have the opportunity to change anything you are not entirely comfortable with. You will have the option to remain completely anonymous, but if you wish you can be named as part of the co-creation team.
All four artworks will be publicly displayed as part of a larger sharing in December.
